Fethiye
Location - Fethiye is the commercial centre of this area. Once a minor fishing village and market town, found less than 1 hours drive from Dalaman airport, Fethiye has become a thriving tourist centre in recent years.
Activities - Centred largely on its marina, Fethiye is a yachting centre and there are many daily boat trips into the Gulf of Fethiye, the 12 Islands, and the unforgettable region around Kekova Island, where you can swim amongst some of the mysterious sunken cities and ruins of the world. Diving trips are offered daily from trial dives to full PADI courses.
Additional information - Fethiye dates back to the 6th century BC and boasts a Roman Amphitheatre and Turkish baths in the town centre. The old town is a maze of narrow streets bustling with bizarres, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Shopping in Fethiye is a wonderful experience. The town was once a Lycian city and traces of the ancient settlement can be seen, including the magnificent rock tombs on the face of the cliff east of the town.
